Church schools are at the centre of the Church's mission.

Church schools reach out to the young in far greater numbers than regularly attend church, and because through the young the Church is reaching out to parents and communities who would not otherwise engage with  it"                The Dearing Report.

Our School Prayer

Dear Father God,
bless our School
that working together
and playing together
we may learn to serve you
and to serve one another.

Our School's Mission Statement

At St Nicholas and St Laurence Primary School we will work in partnership with parents to put the children at the heart of all we do. They will receive, within a caring Christian environment, the highest quality education that will ensure they reach their full potential
and prepare them for future life.

Our School Ethos

Recognising its historic foundation, the School will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the church at parish and diocesan level.

The school aims to serve its community by providing education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.

It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers
all its pupils.

With 201 children on the roll at the moment we are an ever popular School. Our Catchment Area comprises part of the Ecclesiastical (Church) Parishes of Bincombe with Broadwey, Upwey and Buckland Ripers and part of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Littlemoor.

Our School is now part of the Wey Valley Campus, incorporating The Wey Valley School, our own School and Wyvern Special School.

We have twelve School Governors, eight of whom are Foundation Governors.

The Church is very supportive of the School and through various means contributes financially to the children's education.

The Children are encouraged to come along with their families and share in the worship at St Nicholas Broadwey and the songs we sing in our Collective Worship are ones we use regularly at Church.

The Rector is a regular visitor at School and takes Collective Worship once a week, as well making other visits to classes and year groups to share the Christian faith with the children and to answer some of their very perceptive and interesting questions.

This year our School children helped collect Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

In 2011 322 Boxes were collected by our friends, our four Churches and our School.

The Boxes were collected from St Nicholas Church Broadwey and have been sent out to children in Bosnia.

Year 3 inside and year 4 outside!

Awake at 5.30am and enjoying every minute of the day.

Our Year Groups having a great time camping on our School Field.

Examples of the Children’s RE work is to be found in Church and the congregation are encouraged to support the School through prayer and attendance at open School events.

The Prayer Tree - was made for us by a member of the Congregation of St Laurence Upwey, and is used by staff and children. The prayers are then taken to St Nicholas Church Broadwey where they offered to God in a quiet and confidential time.
